Hilton Head Travel Deals and Vacation Packages

This paradise is a vacation island with famous golf courses and great beaches and a lot, lot more.  An array of travel deals and vacation packages to Hilton Head offers a lot of options that would suit your tastes and budget.  Hilton Head is indeed heaven for sports enthusiasts.  But beyond this are lots of sunny beaches and lush greenery.

Hilton Head is a small island, just 12 miles long and 5 miles wide, 35 miles northeast if Savannah Georgia, and 100 miles south of Charleston South Carolina.  With an approximate population of 33,000, it is located on a beautiful, semi-tropical 12 mile barrier island. Hilton Head Island is a vacation haven with famous beaches and great golf courses that overlook the Atlantic Ocean.  It is the largest sea island between New Jersey and Florida and one of America’s great resort meccas.  Hilton Head is surrounded by the Low Country, where the distinctive romance, beauty and graciousness of the Old South is very apparent. The broad white-sand beaches are warmed by the Gulf Stream.  The periphery of the island is richly covered with palm trees and lined with rolling dunes.  An intermingling of palms with live oaks, dogwood, and pines festooned with Spanish moss makes some of the breathtaking view of the island’s lush greenery. The subtropical climate prevailing in the island makes it the ideal setting for golf and other outdoor sports activities.  The island is also the top choice for Southeast’s finest saltwater fishing. This 42-square miles of paradise is bursting with tons of natural beauty and man-made marvels.  Yet Hilton Head feels spacious, thanks to the judicious planning since the start of its development in 1952.  This island is host to about 2.3 million resort guests every year.  Aside from sports enthusiasts, the island also attracts artists, writers, musicians, theater groups, and craftspeople.

Being one of the top tourist destinations, Hilton Head is at it busiest during Easter, Fourth of July, the first week of August, and Labor Day.  Also, the Verizon Heritage golf tournament, which is part of the PGA Tour, is held in early or mid-April every year.  During these weeks, expect crowded stores, full hotels and long waits at restaurants.  Getting around the island during these times could be a lot difficult.  Visiting the island during summer may not be a wise option as the island is crowded and prone to summer storms, which may range from an afternoon rainburst to a severe hurricane. Fall and spring are the best times to visit the place as the island is not too crowded during these periods.

Hilton Head is generally an upscale tourist destination.  Resorts are located in opulent and exclusive settings—with names like Sea Pines and Palmetto dunes.  It also has private residences which include Hyatt and Hilton properties and numerous private vacation homes of the rich and the famous.

Though Hilton Head is foremost a sports buff’s dream destination, a lot of other outdoor opportunities attracts other guests to this enchanting place. The Sea Pines Forest Preserve offers a close-up look at a swamp without having to get mucky. Raised boardwalks provide a protected path for pedestrians. The colorful Harbourtown Lighthouse, the island’s icon, provides a great backdrop into the rich history of the island.

Great travel deals and vacation packages should provide you with the best options to enjoy this great tourist destination while working within your budget.  Indeed you can enjoy this tourist gem with all its splendor and treasures without going heavy on your pocket.
